Home learning has always been a vital part of a child’s development, and this is no different at secondary school. In fact, a Department of Education study has shown that pupils who regularly complete their home learning tasks achieve over a grade higher than those who do not. This has a particularly high impact when home learning is something that is completed together with parental engagement.
Home learning will never be set just to follow a rigid timetable. We believe that home learning should complement the work completed in school, extend the learning within the subject of recap and revise past learning. As a guide, core subjects may set homework once or twice a fortnight and subjects with less timetable time perhaps once or twice a half term.
